Calling On High Status Prospects

By Brian Tracy

Salespeople often have mental blocks when it comes to prospecting. Low self-esteem and feelings of inferiority leading to the fear of rejection make some salespeople tense and uneasy about calling on prospects that they feel are “better” than they are socially or economically.  These salespeople will not call on senior executives or professional people because they don’t feel “good enough.”

Generating $10,000 Ideas is easy. Execution NOT!

By Scott Y.

The value of books isn’t the paper it’s the ideas inside.  Following this logic, if the ideas you get from a book can help you earn $20,000, then even a steep $10,000 price tag should seem cheap.  Ramit Sethi expresses a similar sentiment in his article, “Stop being a loser and pay money to save money”:

They see [a book] that costs $10 and fail to realize that they could save $500, or $10,000, with the advice inside. …

I bought Madeleine Albright’s Memo to the President Elect CD: How We Can Restore America’s Reputation and Leadership to try to learn from a true leader. It cost $40, which seems outrageously expensive, but there was one line in there that will probably save me tens of thousands of dollars over a lifetime …

The Journey to Happiness

The key to happiness is both simple and complex. It is the sum total result of more than 2000 years of philosophy, psychology, speculation and discussion about the meanings and sources of happiness. From Aristotle in 340 BC through to the modern thinkers, speakers and writers of today, this key to happiness has hardly changed at all. It is the same for virtually all men and women, in all countries and situations and in all walks of life.

Read More Than You Need to Know

Gathering ideas is cheap, implementing ideas is expensive.  Reading a business book takes several hours over the course of a week.  Starting a business takes thousands of hours over the course of years.  Making ideas a reality is orders of magnitude more difficult than gathering creative ideas.

This simple fact is the reason I’m a big believer in gathering far more ideas than you can possibly implement.  When the amount of effort it takes to find ideas is 10, 100 or even 1000 times less than the cost of putting it into action, it pays not to waste your time on mediocre ideas.
